How long is a Mission Experience?
Mission Experiences typically range from a single day to a few weeks, depending on what you're able to commit and what the mission team recommends for your situation. Most first-time visitors find that three to seven days gives enough time for a genuine encounter without over-extending the mission's limited hosting capacity. Exact length is worked out directly with the mission team when you reach out.
Can individuals apply?
Yes. Individual pilgrims are welcome, though because communities here are remote and hosting capacity is limited, individual visits are coordinated directly with mission staff well in advance, usually including a short conversation to understand your interests and match you with the right community and activities.
Can schools or parishes organize a group experience?

Yes, and groups are genuinely welcome — this is one of the more common ways people encounter the mission. Given lodging and transportation limits in mountain communities, group size is usually capped (commonly somewhere in the 8–15 range, though this should be confirmed with current mission staff), and each group needs a designated leader who coordinates logistics and serves as the mission team's main point of contact before and during the visit.
Accommodations are simple and community-based, not hotel-style — typically at the mission center or in approved lodging within or near the community being visited, sometimes involving shared rooms, basic bedding, and limited or intermittent electricity. Comfort here means safe and dignified, not resort-level.
Most mission immersion programs like this one ask for a modest contribution to help cover lodging, meals, and local transportation during your stay, often with flexibility for those who genuinely cannot afford it — consistent with a mission that doesn't want cost to be the reason someone can't come.
Sturdy, closed-toe walking or hiking shoes (terrain includes unpaved roads, hills, and river crossings)
Modest clothing appropriate for both rural Filipino culture and Catholic liturgical settings
A light rain jacket or poncho and a reusable water bottle

How physically demanding is the experience?
How do we prepare before arriving?
Moderate to demanding, depending on which communities you visit. Reaching some communities involves motorcycle travel over unpaved mountain roads, and in some cases hours of walking or river crossings, in tropical heat and humidity. A reasonable level of physical fitness is recommended. If you have mobility limitations, chronic health conditions, or other concerns, raise them directly with the mission team beforehand — there are usually ways to adapt the itinerary (staying closer to the mission center rather than the most remote sites, for instance) rather than excluding someone outright.
Consult a travel or tropical medicine doctor about recommended vaccinations well before departure
Arrange appropriate travel insurance
Confirm final dates, group size, and logistics with the mission office in advance
If traveling with minors, arrange the necessary parental consent and safeguarding paperwork
Take time for spiritual preparation — prayer, and some reading on Tagakaulo culture and the mission's history, so you arrive ready to listen rather than assume
