The Tagakaulo are one of the Indigenous Peoples of southern Mindanao whose history, traditions, and way of life have been carefully preserved through generations.
Their culture is deeply rooted in family, respect for elders, communal responsibility, and a profound relationship with the land they call home. Their traditions, stories, language, music, and customs continue to express a rich cultural identity that deserves to be cherished and respected.
As a Catholic mission, we do not see these traditions as obstacles to faith but as gifts through which God's grace is already at work. Walking together has taught us that evangelization is most authentic when it begins with listening, mutual respect, and genuine friendship.

The name Tagakaulo is commonly understood to mean "people of the headwaters" or "people living in the uplands," reflecting the community's deep connection to the mountains and river systems of southern Mindanao. This connection to the land continues to shape their identity, traditions, and way of life.
