A Ministry Rooted in Inculturation

Pastoral ministry here is not simply Catholic practice carried out with respect for Tagakolu culture. Its core method is inculturation — what the Diocese of Digos calls integral evangelization: a Lumad catechesis that lets the Gospel and Tagakolu culture encounter one another as equals, each shaping how the other is understood and lived.

This means the Eucharist, the Sacraments, and catechesis are not simply translated into Tagakolu language — they are lived through Tagakolu forms of gathering, storytelling, and spirituality, so that the Church that grows here is genuinely a Lumadnong Simbahan, an Indigenous Church, rather than an outside institution adapted for a new setting.

This same commitment extends beyond liturgy and catechesis: it includes standing with the Tagakolu people in defending their ancestral domain, since a people's land and a people's faith cannot be separated.
